Founder stories
MRR Story reports Motionvid.ai at $7,775 MRR via TrustMRR/Stripe with $44,400+ all-time revenue and about 280 active subscriptions; Anatoly Pashias's own site separately lists Motionvid at $7K MRR and 80,000 users.
Motionvid.ai is an AI motion-graphics and video editor that turns prompts or reference images into animated explainers, infographics, maps, product promos and editable motion-graphics scenes without traditional keyframing.
How Anatoly acquired customers
Tools used to build Motionvid.ai
Anatoly Pashias and Nick Nicolaou built Motionvid.ai from a filmmaker's motion-design bottleneck, launched a 21-day MVP through AppSumo, and grew the AI video tool to about $7.8K MRR without relying on paid ads.
Motionvid.ai started with a very specific creative bottleneck. Nick Nicolaou was a filmmaker who kept seeing clients ask for Vox-style explainers, animated maps, infographics and product visuals that normally meant hours in After Effects. Anatoly Pashias had the technical background to turn that pain into software: a prompt-based motion-graphics editor that could generate polished visuals, then keep them editable.
The founders did not spend a year perfecting the first version. Anatoly locked in and built the initial MVP in 21 days in late 2024. Motionvid's own site now positions the product as an AI motion and video editor with chat, a scene timeline, zoom controls, Animora video models and Miltos-powered editable graphics. Anatoly's own site describes the stack as Next.js, Firebase and Google Cloud, and lists Motionvid at 80,000 users and $7K MRR.
The launch lesson is the part most SaaS founders can copy. Instead of buying ads, Motionvid used AppSumo as a concentrated launch channel for agencies, creators and deal hunters who already wanted faster visual production. The AppSumo push produced a large one-time cash spike, but the team treated it as a launchpad and feedback engine, not the whole business model. The launch generated $5K in one day, $20K in three days and $40K in four days from AppSumo, while current recurring revenue later reached $7,775 MRR across about 280 active subscriptions.
That distinction matters. The headline one-time deal revenue proved demand, funded iteration and created an army of demanding beta users. The recurring business came from turning those users into a product that saved real production time: map animations, explainers, product promos and editable AI-generated motion graphics. Motionvid's story is a reminder that a marketplace launch can be useful when it is used to stress-test a real workflow, not just to celebrate gross sales.
Start from a workflow a co-founder knows painfully well, then make the before-and-after transformation visible.
A fast MVP can be enough when the demo output itself proves the product promise.
Use deal marketplaces as a concentrated feedback and cash-flow channel, not as a substitute for recurring revenue.
Separate one-time launch revenue from MRR so the business does not fool itself about retention.
You have the story. Make it actionable: what worked, what to copy, what to avoid, and which channel to test first.
