Founder stories
Self-reported in the founder's Indie Hackers post (Jan 3, 2026). He shares month-by-month MRR figures: $28 in June, $208 early Nov, $407 late Nov, $840 in Dec, crossing $1K MRR with ~900 active subs in early January 2026.

How Hirvesh acquired customers
Tools used to build Habit Pixel
Hirvesh Munogee built a gamified habit tracker, launched it quietly in May 2025, and reached $1K MRR by January 2026 through purchasing power parity pricing, localization, and seasonal timing.
Hirvesh Munogee is a self-taught developer from Mauritius who kept failing to stick to his own routines. Most habit trackers felt like dull checklists, so he built Habit Pixel to make progress visual: every check-in colors a pixel, and streaks grow into a small piece of pixel art. It is a cross-platform mobile app, built solo with no funding or team, and it followed two earlier projects he had moved on from.
He launched on the App Store and Google Play in early May 2025 and announced it on X and Reddit around May 10 to 17. The app picked up roughly a thousand active users within weeks and made its first subscription sale by May 19, but the money barely moved at first. Onboarding problems pushed people away, and MRR was only about $28 in June. Through the summer he iterated quietly, fixing fundamentals and adding features users asked for, such as negative habit tracking for goals like sobriety. Revenue crept up to around $208 MRR by early November.
The turning point was a mix of pricing and timing. In late October he rolled out purchasing power parity pricing across both app stores, adjusting subscription costs to local economies. Almost immediately he saw first-time sales from Southeast Asia and Latin America. He then leaned into posting build-in-public updates on X, ran a 40% off Black Friday lifetime deal that produced his first $2K revenue month, and localized the app into 12 languages on December 30 ahead of New Year resolutions. December closed at roughly $840 MRR.
January brought the payoff that habit apps tend to see during resolution season. A January 1 launch on Uneed landed second product of the day, and within the first couple of days of the month he logged over 200 sales, pushing active subscribers to around 900 and crossing $1K MRR. He credits the combination of accessible global pricing, localization, and seasonal timing for the international jump, and is now aiming for $5K MRR by mid-2026.
Fix onboarding before chasing growth: early friction kept MRR stuck at $28 a month no matter how many people downloaded the app.
Purchasing power parity pricing unlocked entire new markets almost overnight, with first sales from regions the app had never reached.
Time releases around seasons: Black Friday and New Year resolutions both produced outsized revenue jumps for a habit app.
Building in public on X turned quiet iteration into a community that drove organic downloads and feedback.
Localizing into 12 languages improved app store visibility and made non-English users feel the product was built for them.
