How Tyler acquired customers
Tools used to build AIDesigner.ai
Tyler Yin spotted that vibe-coded apps often worked but looked bad, then built AIDesigner.ai into a design layer for AI builders that grew from under $1K to $9.5K MRR in 30 days.
Tyler Yin, who posts as Wiz, did not start AIDesigner.ai from a market scan. In his own launch post on r/vibecoding he opened with the opposite of a design pedigree: he wrote that he is not the most UI savvy dude, that he usually just ends up taking designs from sites and apps he likes, and that the "AI UI Design" tools already out there produced the most bland, generic, boilerplate designs on the planet, the same Lucide icons, the same page structure, the same background gradients. So he built his own and posted a demo asking for feedback, harsh included.
The soft launch was early December 2025 and the first money arrived almost immediately. On day two of building in public he posted that he had made his first sale, with users going from 5 to 26 and MRR going from $0 to $30. Those first paying customers came, in his words, pretty much the same day, off a Reddit post. On day 25 he crossed $500 MRR, and he set that number against the run of earlier projects that never really made more than a couple hundred bucks after he quit his stable 9-5 in March.
Then came four quiet months. Yin later said it took four months to get this kind of traction. The unlock in spring 2026 was a loop he described plainly: ship a new feature, make a product demo montage rather than a boring screen recording, post it on Reddit, repeat. He credits that loop as the strategy that worked for someone with practically zero social media following. On April 4 alone it produced $800 in sales and 729 new users in a day.
The second unlock was distribution inside the tools his buyers already had open. He shipped an MCP server so Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Windsurf could call AIDesigner from inside a coding session instead of sending developers out to a separate design site. His argument for MCP over a system prompt or a skill was control: MCP gives a more controlled environment where the output is independent from external variables and fine tuned, so design quality does not swing with whichever model the coding agent happens to be running.
The climb itself is documented in his own posts, and the real numbers are messier than a clean headline. On April 16 he reported going from $11,410 ARR to $101,160 ARR in 14 days. On April 21 he posted $9k MRR, said he was battling churn, and said he was still gunning for $10K by the end of the month so he could brag about going from $1k to $10k in under 30 days. He did not make that deadline. The $10K MRR post came on July 5, 2026, seven months after the start, and he was candid about the gap: the business plateaued after the 1k to 9k climb in April and May, he started to burn out, and he stepped away for a while before coming back to it.
Not everything worked, and he said so publicly. A Product Hunt launch on April 8 finished 19th for the day and returned 123 new visitors, $0 in new sales, and two partnership inquiries. He called the result pretty disappointing and concluded that Product Hunt is not worth it without a large following, a viral moment, or a hunter behind the launch.
A sharp wedge can come from the weakness of a fast-growing adjacent workflow, such as AI coding tools producing functional but unattractive interfaces.
Make a visually obvious product easy to demonstrate; raw feature demos can sell better than abstract positioning.
Workflow integration can turn a standalone tool into infrastructure for the tools customers already use.
Resist rounding an almost-$10K result into a cleaner $10K headline; the honest near-miss can be more trustworthy.
