Founder stories
Indie Hackers reports Youform at $18K MRR and 80,000 users in the 2026-03-19 founder interview. The launch-window lifetime-deal revenue is treated only as proof of paid demand by day 40, not as MRR.
A freemium form, quiz, and survey builder positioned around unlimited forms and responses, a generous free plan, and a $29 per month Pro tier for upgrades such as custom domains, payments, and branding removal.

Abhishek Chakravarty spotted Typeform users looking for a cheaper form builder, sold his adjacent chatbot product, and built Youform into an $18K MRR freemium SaaS with pricing people could understand.
Youform started as a positioning lesson hidden inside another product. Abhishek Chakravarty was growing Botflow, a no-code chatbot builder, when he noticed that many users were arriving because Typeform had become expensive and they were searching for alternatives. Botflow was close to the need, but it was not a dedicated form and survey builder. Instead of forcing the chatbot product to serve that audience, Abhishek sold Botflow on Acquire.com for $10,000 and used the signal to build Youform from scratch.
The first version was intentionally small. Abhishek says he built the initial Youform product in three to four days while still freelancing for multiple clients. The stack stayed familiar: Laravel, Vue.js, AWS, Laravel Envoyer, and Stripe. The insight was not that forms were a new market. It was that an existing market had a painful gap: people wanted Typeform-style forms without Typeform-style limits and pricing.
Youform's public positioning still reflects that gap. The homepage leads with unlimited forms and unlimited responses, a free forever plan, no credit card required, and direct comparison pages for Typeform, Google Forms, and Jotform. The product page says more than 90,000 users now use Youform worldwide, while the Indie Hackers interview reported 80,000 users and $18K MRR at publication time. The numbers point to the same durable wedge: generous free usage brings distribution, and the paid plan sells practical upgrades like custom domains, payment collection, and removing branding.
The monetization path was careful about what to make recurring. The team first ran a lifetime deal that started at $299, later increased to $399, lasted 40 days, and generated more than $35,000. That launch revenue is proof that people paid for the product quickly, but it is not MRR. After the launch window, Youform moved fully to subscriptions, with a $29 per month Pro plan positioned as the affordable alternative in a crowded market.
Growth came from meeting users where the pain already existed. Abhishek searched places like X and Reddit for people discussing Typeform, then reached out with a simple alternative. Over time, free users also became a distribution channel: when they shared forms, Youform branding traveled with the form. That loop only works because the free product is useful enough to share without a sales call.
The useful lesson is not to copy Youform's price blindly. It is to notice when a large incumbent's pricing or limits create search demand, then build a smaller product with one sentence customers already understand. Youform did not need to teach the market what a form builder was. It needed to be the affordable, generous version people were already trying to find.
A price increase by an incumbent can create a clear wedge if users are already searching for alternatives
Launch-window lifetime-deal revenue can validate demand, but it should not be treated as recurring revenue
A generous free plan can become distribution when users share branded outputs with other potential customers
Simple positioning works best in crowded markets when it names the alternative customers already know
