Where the idea came from

Personal painPivot from Wordzen (a Gmail-based service connecting users with freelance writers/editors); GMass grew out of the communication problem he hit while recruiting for it. He had also already built and sold a prior email marketing company, JangoMail, in 2013.20y domain experience

Goel built the first version of GMass out of his own frustration at needing to email several candidates about an open position at his company (he was recruiting writers/editors for his other Gmail-based product, Wordzen, at the time) without exposing them to each other or using BCC. In a separate, more detailed account he adds that he assumed a Gmail mass-email tool already existed and was surprised to find none did, after having just sold his prior company, JangoMail, in 2013.
