The Beginning

Andres Ugarte began work on Copilot Money on his own in 2018, starting as a solo software engineer building what he wished existed for personal finance tracking.

Native-First Philosophy

"I believe that having a native app makes a difference the moment you start interacting with it," says Andres. The app is fully native iOS, built with Swift and UIKit, giving it a unique look and feel.

The Launch

Copilot Money launched in 2020 as a Swift- and UIKit-built utility, leveraging Product Hunt to gain early traction among the Apple enthusiast community.

Recognition

The app has gone on to become an Apple Design Award finalist (2024) and an App Store Editor's Choice. The team uses Swift Charts for financial visualization, maintaining their commitment to native Apple technologies.

Scaling Up

What started as Andres coding alone has grown to a team of 28 based in Brooklyn and Santiago. "Engineers and designers are often told they should focus on the technical aspects. I believe that's fundamentally wrong. We have a superpower when it comes to understanding what goes into crafting a product that people want to use."
