How Christian acquired customers
Tools used to build 3AK Track & Field
Christian Rac and Braylin Byrd turned a 150K-follower track audience into a subscription training app, building with Rork and ChatGPT instead of custom code and later showing $10,045 MRR on TrustMRR.
Christian Rac and Braylin Byrd were not hunting for a generic app idea. They were Division I track athletes with an audience already asking them how to train, run faster and stay consistent. Rork's case study says Braylin had about 112,000 Instagram followers, Christian had about 42,500, and their combined track audience was over 150,000 followers before the app launched.
Before 3AK Track & Field, they had tried the usual teenage side hustles: Shopify stores, day trading, cutting hair, pressure washing, selling candy and clothing. Rork summarizes the lesson plainly: they had been guessing. The track content was different because the audience was already asking for workouts, form help and training structure. Instead of promoting someone else's fitness app, they decided to build their own product for the niche they understood.
Neither founder had traditional coding experience. They used Rork to build the mobile app and ChatGPT to help debug workflows and app logic. The product focused on track-and-field athletes rather than broad recreational runners: AI stride and form analysis, custom workout programs, a personal AI coach, nutrition tracking, daily challenges, GPS run tracking and progress analytics. The App Store listing now positions 3AK as an all-in-one performance system for sprinters, distance runners and serious athletes, with 50,000+ athletes and subscription access to the core features.
They launched in January 2026. MRR Story reports $10,000 in first-month revenue and a later $17K-$19K MRR range; Rork's March case study says the app was doing $17,460 in the last 28 days, verified by RevenueCat. The growth engine was simple but hard to copy without real credibility: Instagram and track-specific short-form content, a low-friction App Store subscription, and a product aimed directly at young athletes who were already consuming their training content.
The most conservative structured number is the later TrustMRR listing. It shows 3AK Track & Field with $10,045 MRR, $13,610 last-30-day revenue, 2,913 active subscriptions, and RevenueCat verification, updated July 18, 2026. The founder note there says revenue was in a seasonal dip, that the product had scaled to roughly $100K in under six months at about 80% margins, and that most growth was organic with only Meta ads at $50-$100 per day later on.
For SFS data pages, I encoded only the milestones the public sources can support cleanly: first customer by the end of the January launch month, and a conservative $10,045 MRR milestone at the TrustMRR source date. I did not backdate the $10K MRR crossing to the first month because the first-month source says revenue, not explicit recurring MRR.
A niche audience asking for help is stronger validation than a broad market trend.
No-code tools can work when the founders already understand the customer and distribution channel.
For subscription data, separate first-month revenue from verified MRR instead of treating every sales figure as recurring revenue.
Youthful pricing can be a product strategy when the target buyers are students and young athletes.
