Real-time flight tracking service showing aircraft positions worldwide using ADS-B receiver data.
How Mikael acquired customers
Tools used to build Flightradar24
A hobby project tracking aircraft in Sweden became the #1 flight tracking app in 130+ countries.
Flightradar24 started as a hobby project in 2006 when two Swedish aviation geeks decided to build a network of ADS-B receivers in Northern and Central Europe.
We were just aviation enthusiasts who wanted to track aircraft in real time. The service was originally for Northern and Central Europe only, under different domain names.
In 2009 we opened up the network, making it possible for anyone with an ADS-B receiver to contribute data. This was the turning point - aviation enthusiasts worldwide started joining.
Today, our app has been the #1 selling app in Apple's App Store in over 130 countries. Each day Flightradar24 has over 4 million unique users.
Most airlines and many other companies in the aviation industry (including Airbus, Boeing and Embraer) use our services. What started as an empty sky in 2006 became the world's most comprehensive flight tracking platform.
We sell the app for $3.99 and also offer subscriptions for businesses and consumers who want additional features like historical flight data and alerts.
