About a year into running Creator Wizard, a follower's DM pushed him to stop covering broad creator-business topics and rebrand his Twitter bio as a dedicated sponsorship coach. He calls this the single biggest inflection point for the business.

A single, unambiguous positioning line let people instantly understand what he does and refer others to him by name whenever the topic came up.

“I get like 10 people tagging me. Talk to Justin, talk to Justin, talk to Justin.”

He and his wife had more inbound sponsorship inquiries, through their existing agency and personal channels, than they could personally use. Instead of turning the extras away, he began forwarding them to newsletter subscribers as a bonus section.

“And so I started including these as like a little bonus section in the newsletter of like, Hey, these are like actual brand deals you can get.”

Concrete, actionable paid opportunities were far more compelling to subscribers than generic creator advice, and offering them for free made the newsletter feel like an obvious yes.

“They were just like, what? Like you're sending me brand deals now. Like this is insane.”

Once his positioning narrowed to being known as the sponsorship guy, other creators started doing his marketing for him: whenever someone publicly asked about sponsorships, others would tag him in the replies.

“I get like 10 people tagging me. Talk to Justin, talk to Justin, talk to Justin.”

Roughly a year and a half before this interview (so around late 2020), while the business still had no course or paid product to fund it, he hired a content strategist specifically to build his reputation as the sponsorship guy on social media.

“your task is, make me known as the sponsorship guy on social media”

He frames the up-front content spend, made before there was any monetization to offset it, as a deliberate long-horizon bet rather than a loss.

“I'll make that investment all day long”
