SaaS Pegasus started as a side project while I had a full-time job. It's a Django boilerplate that saves developers weeks of setup time.
The Origin
I was building multiple Django projects and kept copying the same code - authentication, billing, teams. I packaged it up and started selling it.
Slow and Steady Growth
Growth was entirely organic through SEO and word of mouth in the Django community. I wrote extensively about Django development, which brought traffic.
The Numbers
It took about 2 years to reach $10K MRR, but it was entirely passive - I could work on it a few hours a week while keeping my job.
