Outils utilisés pour construire Creator Science
Started with a blog nobody read. Rebranded to Creator Science and built to $500K/year through newsletter, podcast, and community.
Jay Clouse didn't believe he was creative. Now he runs Creator Science, a multi-million dollar business and one of the most trusted voices in the creator economy. But it took years of failed attempts before finding his path.
Before Creator Science, Jay tried multiple ventures that didn't work out. He started with a blog that "probably less than 100 people ever read." But each attempt taught him something about building an audience.
The breakthrough came when Jay committed to a weekly newsletter called Creative Companion. He focused on helping creators understand the business side of creating content.
But something wasn't clicking. The name "Creative Companion" didn't communicate the value clearly.
"I thought, maybe I just need to put the word in the brand name," Jay explained. He rebranded to Creator Science, emphasizing his methodical, experiment-based approach to creator growth.
The rebrand worked. Subscribers started coming faster.
Jay's growth strategy centered on multiple content channels that reinforced each other:
In 2022, Jay launched The Lab, an invite-only membership for established creators. At $2,000/year with 200 members, the community alone generates $400K annually.
He capped membership to maintain quality, using scarcity to drive urgency. February 2023 became his biggest revenue month as they approached the cap.
Jay's total earnings from creative work since 2017 exceed $2.1 million. But it took nearly a decade of building, failing, and iterating to reach this point.
Put the value in the name. Rebranding from Creative Companion to Creator Science helped Jay communicate his unique angle - a scientific approach to creator growth.
Multiple channels create a flywheel. Newsletter subscribers become podcast listeners become YouTube viewers become community members. Each channel reinforces the others.
Premium community beats scale. 200 members at $2,000/year ($400K) is often better than 4,000 members at $50/year. Higher prices attract more committed members.
Embrace the long game. Jay's "overnight success" took 10 years of building, failing, and iterating. The first blogs nobody read were part of the journey.
